Star of the Year crowned at Consultants Party

Stepping out just ahead of the Christmas party season, the annual Obelisk Consultants’ Awards Party took place at London Museum in mid-November.

The drinks were flowing and the jazz was hot, as more than 100 lawyers made their way to the (busy and noisy) get together in this historic venue on the outskirts of the City.

The Awards night is a chance to celebrate the achievements of some of Obelisk’s outstanding lawyers, who have provided clients with great work and great customer service over the last 12 months.

It is also an opportunity for old and new faces to connect with the company, which is growing so rapidly now within the legal outsourcing sector.

The four lawyers who received special recognition this year were:

  • Henrieta Iyer
  • Lola Moses
  • Ian O’Meara
  • And Star of the Year, pictured above, was Kate Lambie

Henrieta Iyer said she was “shocked” to win an award. Lola Moses said she felt “very special and very honoured” to receive an award, seeing it as a huge endorsement of her work for Obelisk and clients. Accepting the award Lola said: “Obelisk are ahead of the trend. What I see in the legal market over the next five to ten years is more flexibility – more project based work. I’ve only requested remote working and they’ve been able to find clients that also wanted a lawyer to be remote, and it’s worked tremendously.”

Rising quickly through the ranks, Ian O’Meara said: “It was actually only a year ago that I came to this same events and I’d just signed up with Obelisk and hadn’t done any asignments – and here I am a year later having a great time.”

A delighted Kate Lambie, who won the special Star of the Year award, praised Obelisk for “looking at people as individuals rather than people who just earn you money, and caring about peoples’ lives.”

The event was led by Client Services Manager (and stand-up comedian in the making …) Jeremy Hopkins, who was joined on stage by Obelisk CEO Dana Denis-Smith and one of the company’s major clients, Steve Roberts, Chief Counsel at BT.

Dana told the packed room: “Evenings and events like this make me feel very proud about what we are doing at Obelisk, and what we have done since we set out back in 2010. We’re changing the way the world works, one lawyer at a time.”

Footprint were there to capture the evening on video, and interview the winners in the Red Chair, which is now a regular feature at Obelisk events. Make sure to ‘sit and speak’ at the next one …

See you there.
